Destination Weddings in Africa

A wedding in Africa is something most people only dream of. Whether you choose to get married in the Cape Winelands, on safari, or a tropical African coastline, each destination has something unique and spectacular to offer. I’ve been to many destination weddings in recent years, both in Africa and abroad, which is why I am having my own wedding in Kenya next year. I’ve seen the appeal of a destination wedding first-hand, particularly one in Africa.

Why Choose Africa for a destination wedding?

There is something extraordinary about bringing your family and closest friends together in a destination, especially one that so many have dreamt of visiting but never quite made the trip. Africa has an energy that is hard to put into words. Sharing that with your friends and family makes for an experience that is far bigger than the wedding itself. It feels like a celebration and holiday rolled into one, where people can spend a few days really getting to know each other, relaxing, and celebrating in an incredible place.

Popular Wedding Destinations

There are so many options across Africa, but a few destinations always rise to the top. The Cape Winelands is the most popular choice (and for good reason) with its beautiful vineyards, mountain views, and world-class wine and food. Sabi Sands for the romance of a safari wedding, where your day is started with sunrise game drives, and lions roaring may be the soundtrack to your ceremony. And of course, Zanzibar, for the white sand beaches, turquoise waters and tropical vibes.

The beauty of a destination wedding goes far beyond the day itself. Your guests not only gather for the wedding, they also get to experience Africa alongside you. Many will extend their trip to go on safari, explore the city, or spend time on the coast. For some, this will be their first chance to travel to Africa, and the wedding becomes the reason they finally do it.

The Guest Experience

Time and again, I have seen how people light up when they hear a wedding is in Africa. It is often a place they have had on their bucket list for years but it’s felt like a distant dream or something that is daunting to book. A destination wedding suddenly gives them the perfect excuse to make the trip. Guests end up creating memories not only from the wedding, but also from the experiences around it. A first safari, a sunset over Table Mountain, or a few days on the beach. That is one of the greatest parts of choosing Africa.

Where do we come in?

Well, we know Africa and we specialise in logistics, planning, and everything in between. And while we aren’t wedding planners ourselves, we work hand-in-hand with them to create a full-service, seamless experience for you and your guests. That means taking care of accommodation, transfers, guest’s plans outside of the wedding, and of course the honeymoon. Because most of the time guests want to stay, explore, and experience more, and we make that simple.

Planning any wedding can be stressful. Planning one from abroad can feel even more daunting. We know what it takes to bring it together, and with the right team it doesn’t need to be. Instead, it can become the celebration you always imagined, surrounded by the people you love most, in one of the most spectacular places on earth.

If you’d like to learn more about how we help bring these celebrations to life, take a look at our Destination Weddings page.
